Who We Are

Mark Littleton
Co-Director
HACWN@earthlink.net

Mark Littleton is the author of more than 100 books, some of them bestsellers.
He lives in Missouri with his wife, two children, two dogs, two cats, two
guinea pigs, two hamsters, and one fish. We don't know what happened
to the second fish.

Mark’s Tip: Don't become a writer unless you're ready to do battle
every day for the rest of your life.

Jeanette Littleton
Co-Director and Founder
HACWN@earthlink.net

Jeanette Gardner Littleton was first published nationally at the age of
15—thanks to her best friend who sent in Jeanette's submission when
she was too scared to!  Soon Jeanette was regularly writing for publication,
and after time in Bible college became a full-time editor and writer. She
has served as an editor on staff with Youth for Christ, the International
Church of the Nazarene, Beacon Hill Press, and Moody Magazine.

Currently a freelancer, Jeanette has written around 5000 pieces—articles, skits, curriculum, devotionals, promotional materials, and even a couple of books—for publication. She has edited thousands of articles in her career, and has edited books for publishers such as Thomas Nelson, Tyndale, Moody, Bethany House, and Guideposts, including putting together two dozen anthologies. Jeanette also enjoys teaching at writers' and magazine editors' conferences across the nation.

When she's not writing or editing or hanging out with her family, she likes to spend time trying to propogate houseplants, listening to her jukebox, or antiquing. She likes to read every night before going to bed.

Jeanette’s Tip: the more editing you can do on your own writing, the more likely you are to sell it.

One of her favorite authors gives this tip to writers:  “So the writer who breeds more words than he needs, is making a chore for the reader who reads.” – Dr. Seuss

Sally Edwards Danley began her writing career in the early 1980’s, writing
devotionals for the Youth for Christ magazine. Sally, along with other
devotional writers helped found a Christian writer’s group with Jeanette
Gardner called the Kansas City Christian Writers’ Network (KCCWN).

Life distractions kept Sally from writing until the early 1990’s when she became involved again with the KCCWN organization which had become the Heart of America Christian Writers’ Network (HACWN).

At the turn of this century Sally began submitting inspirational articles and devotionals to compilation books, some becoming best sellers. Since then Sally has had ten inspirational stories published in collections co-edited by Jeanette Gardner Littleton, and four devotionals in the HACWN devotional book 101 Facets of Faith.

Currently she’s working on a historical novel. She has also nearly completed a book of miracle healing stories where she was privileged to pray or receive healing.

Sally’s Tip: Former HACWN Newsletter editor, Pat Mitchell, taught me to cut and cut by asking the simple question: Is that word really needed?

Jan Lazo-Davis
Website Coordinator

www.secondstar.us

Jan Lazo-Davis began her writing career in 2003 by reaching out to
infertile couples with her husband using their co-authored, self-published
book, Infertility’s Anguish. These publishing skills led to forming a small
press publishing company, Second Star Creations, whose focus is producing
quality, award winning, children’s books. She continued to write and has
been published in magazines and a compilation book. Another focus is
social networking which she has been involved in for the past 30+ years. These skills led to website designing and teaching classes on building internet platforms. Her current emphasis is publication in magazines, and she is currently working on two juvenile/young adult novels.

Jan’s Tip to Stay Fresh and Alive: She tries to learn one new major thing each year.
